The box holds three flipbooks, each devoted to a chapter of my life: childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. Each book is reduced to a single symbolic shape, capturing what defined my priorities during that time. Through motion, these shapes evolve and guide the viewer through a linear progression of growth, transformation, and continuity.
Each 5x3-inch flipbook contains 168 frames of scanned diary entries. The shapes carry transformational qualities, gradually morphing in a way that feels both intentional and ephemeral.
As I grew older, the focus of my writing revealed how my understanding of the world evolved. Childhood centered on play and curiosity; adolescence on community and belonging; and young adulthood on time and the quiet pressure of its passing.
[Flower]: Childhood
[Four Circles]: Adolescence
[Hourglass]: Young Adulthood
Serving as both an invitation into the experience, the box subtly reveals hints of what lies inside. From the lid to the labels, it provides the contextual details that ground the project. The gradient strip across the top further reinforces this unity, connecting the three separate flipbooks.
